LWS/GEOSPACE
MISSIONS DEFINITION TEAM CHARTER
- Review and detail the science and user objectives, priorities
and justifications defined by NASA HQ and the Science
Architecture Team.
- Derive and prioritize measurement requirements from the science
and user objectives, including measurement parameters.
- Develop approach to obtaining the necessary measurements, identifying
measurements expected to be acquired from non-LWS programs
and those that LWS must acquire.
- Compile and evaluate strawman instrument technologies against
the measurement requirements.
- Develop a set of candidate flight elements that fulfill the requirements
and prioritize.
- Identify potential environmental impacts on strawman instrument
technologies.
- Identify accommodation requirements for candidate instruments.
- Work with the LWS Project to obtain engineering and cost analyses
of the candidate flight elements, and iterate until the
flight elements are consistent with the budget cost cap.
- Prepare a geospace implementation plan with explicit priorities.
